It’s True, I’m a Book Worm
Books That Will Change Your Life
I’ve read hundreds of books over the years. Some were forgettable while others were foundational. Here are a few books from my three favorite categories that I’d hand to anyone serious about changing their life.
Mindfulness
Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from slowing down and tuning in. These books helped me sharpen my focus, calm the chaos, and reconnect with my internal compass.
The Surrender Experiment – Michael A. Singer: Let go of control, follow what shows up, and see what happens. Sounds soft, until you realize it built a billion-dollar business.
You Are the Placebo – Joe Dispenza: Rewires how you think about the mind-body connection. A deep dive into how belief can reshape your biology.
The 12 Laws of the Universe – Manhardeep Singh: Spirituality meets structure. If you want to understand the rules behind the woo, this book maps out the energy principles people swear by.
The Four Agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz: Short, simple, and sharp. Four deceptively easy principles that can clean up your relationships, your communication, and your inner chaos.

Self-Help
Growth doesn’t just happen in the grind, it happens in how you think, how you connect, and how you show up. These picks cover mindset, motivation, and inner work that builds confidence.
Life Leverage – Rob Moore: Work less, earn more, live smarter. A blunt reminder that if you’re doing everything yourself, you’re doing it wrong.
Go-Giver – Bob Burg & John David Mann: Required reading at CityPlat for a reason. It flips the usual success script and shows why generosity actually scales.
Own the Day, Own Your Life – Aubrey Marcus: Biohacking for people who still want to live like humans. It’s a full-day blueprint to feel better, move better, and perform better.
Outwitting the Devil – Napoleon Hill: This one gets wild. Hill has a conversation with the Devil about fear, laziness, and the traps that keep people stuck. Surprisingly useful.

Business:
If you’re building something—or trying to—these are required reading. Some are tactical, some are philosophical, all of them sharpen your edge in a world that rewards strategy and execution.
Loopholes of Real Estate – Garrett Sutton: Not sexy, but critical. Protect your assets, structure your deals, and stop leaving money on the table because you didn’t read the fine print.
Adapt – Blaine Strickland: CRE-specific strategy that’s all about agility. If you’re in the game and want to stay ahead, this one will make you think differently.
The Power of Zero – David McKnight: Retirement planning that’s actually aggressive. A sharp breakdown of how to legally pay zero taxes in retirement and why you should aim for it.
The Book on Tax Strategies for the Savvy Real Estate Investor – Amanda Han & Matthew MacFarland: Real estate taxes without the headache. Clear, tactical, and designed for investors who want to keep more of what they earn.
The Compound Effect – Darren Hardy: The small stuff matters more than you think. Master the boring, consistent moves, and watch them snowball into something massive.
Always Day One – Alex Kantrowitz: How the biggest tech companies keep reinventing themselves. Not just for tech people—this is about culture, leadership, and staying hungry.

Bonus
This one’s personal. It doesn’t belong in any one category because it touches all of them. It’s the story of losing everything, questioning everything, and rebuilding from the ground up. If you’ve ever felt like life punched you in the gut and kept swinging, this one’s for you.
F*ck Rock Bottom – Gaurav ‘G’ Patel: Not just my story—yours too, if you’ve ever had to start over with nothing but grit and hope. I wrote this one while rebuilding from scratch. It’s real, raw, and hopefully useful as hell. You can grab your own copy here.

Books don’t fix your life. But they do crack things open. They can give you a new way of thinking, a better question to ask, or act as a reminder you didn’t know you needed. These are the ones that did that for me. Maybe one of them will do the same for you. Pick one and let it mess with your perspective a little. Then go apply it.
